On June 14 and 15, York Region CAS participated in the York Pride Festival held in Newmarket. Our Agency’s staff marched alongside hundreds of community members to celebrate a decade of resilience, unity, and community in hopes to pave a brighter path for all.
Participants also had the opportunity to take part in carnival games, live performances, street art, and much more throughout the weekend’s festivities.
The annual event is held to help inspire positive change through human connections, support, and education while providing 2SLGBTQ+-focused events that highlight queer culture and the importance of creating inclusive spaces within and beyond York Region.
This month and throughout the entire year, York Region CAS is committed to recognizing, honouring, and supporting the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It is also our commitment that our service delivery ensures that children, youth, and families with diverse identities are aware of, and have access to, diverse community services and resources that will support their intersecting needs and identities.
Special thanks to York Pride for organizing such a fantastic event! We can’t wait to see everyone again next year.
