On February 14, 2026, the York Region Alliance of African Canadian Communities (YRAACC) hosted a powerful and uplifting Black History Month celebration at Lauremont School in Richmond Hill. Centered on Black love, Black joy, and Black resilience, the event brought community members together for an unforgettable afternoon of connection and cultural pride.
This free community event featured vibrant entertainment, a lively Black marketplace showcasing local entrepreneurs, meaningful networking opportunities, and a delicious cultural lunch enjoyed by all. The celebration was well attended, with community leaders from Richmond Hill and Markham joining in, along with valued partners from York Regional Police.
Members of the York Region CAS Resource Home Development team were also grateful for the opportunity to participate, engage with families, and highlight our Agency’s ongoing need for diverse foster parents who reflect the communities we serve.
A heartfelt thank you to YRAACC for hosting such an incredible and inspiring event. Your leadership continues to strengthen our community and uplift Black voices across York Region.
