York Region Children’s Aid Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Sally Johnson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective March 16, 2026.

Sally joins York Region CAS following the dedicated service of Laura Davidson, who has served as Acting CEO. We extend our sincere thanks to Laura for her leadership and commitment during this transition. Laura will return to her role as Director, Child, Youth and Family Wellbeing.

With more than 20 years of senior leadership experience in Ontario’s child welfare sector, Sally brings deep expertise, vision, and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children, youth, and families. She holds a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University and has completed advanced leadership programs at the Ivey School of Business (Western University), Schulich School of Management (York University), and most recently, the Smith School of Business (Queen’s University), with a focus on leadership in the not-for-profit sector.

Sally spent 15 years with the former Ministry of Children and Youth Services (now the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services), where she led major transformational initiatives, including the provincial amalgamation of children’s aid societies. Her career also includes senior leadership roles with the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies and, most recently, Executive Director of Child and Family Services of Grand Erie.

Throughout her career, Sally has demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening systems of care for vulnerable children, youth, and families. She has worked closely with Indigenous partners in the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation and has successfully led organizations through periods of growth, change, and transformation.

Selected following a comprehensive recruitment process, Sally brings the leadership, experience, and strategic insight needed to support long-term stability and enhance York Region CAS’ capacity to serve communities across the region.

We look forward to this next chapter and invite our partners to connect with us at [email protected].
