On Friday, November 22, 2025, the “Yorkies”, representing York Region Children’s Aid Society, proudly participated in the third annual Beyond the Net: Serve for Change co-ed volleyball tournament hosted by our good friends at Peel CAS. The event took place at the Trailblazers Youth Centre gym and brought together teams and community partners committed to raising awareness about Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) during Woman Abuse Prevention Month.

The tournament’s purpose was not only to increase awareness about the devastating impact of IPV on women and children, but also to honour the lives of women who have been lost or are missing due to IPV. Equally important, the event celebrated the courage, strength, and resilience of survivors.

As part of our participation, the Yorkies donated personal hygiene products, which will support families staying at the Family Life Resource Centre, a shelter dedicated to helping those affected by IPV.

On the court, the Yorkies—made up of dedicated staff from across the Agency—competed with heart, teamwork, and determination, finishing as semi-finalists!

We extend our sincere appreciation to Peel CAS for hosting and organizing such a meaningful and impactful event. We were honoured to take part, and we’re already looking forward to returning next year—ready to serve for change and maybe even bring home the championship.
