On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, York Region Children’s Aid Society proudly hosted its third annual Take Your Child to Work Day at our head office in Newmarket. This special day welcomed seven eager Grade 9 students, offering them an inside look at the important and rewarding work of child welfare.
The day began with an inspiring video message from Acting CEO, Laura Davidson, followed by a warm welcome, orientation, and land acknowledgment. Students then joined an energizing icebreaker workshop led by You Amaze You Improv, setting a positive and engaging tone for the day.
Throughout the event, youth participated in interactive sessions with several York Region CAS teams, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and Quality Assurance. They also enjoyed a hands-on lunch activity with our Resources team, learning the value of collaboration while sharing a meal they prepared together.
Participants also gained valuable insights into child protection work, legal aspects of child welfare, and the many ways our teams support families and children in the community. To wrap up the day, students took part in a raffle prize draw and relaxed with a movie and popcorn.
York Region CAS extends a heartfelt thank you to our Department of People and Culture and every team that contributed to making this event a fun, educational, and inspiring experience for the next generation.
We look forward to welcoming a new group of students next year for another memorable day of learning, laughter, and inspiration!
