May was Asian Heritage Month in Canada and it’s a time to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of people of Asian descent who have helped shape Canadian society.
Throughout the month, our Agency’s Asian Heritage Month Planning Group shared stories, resources, and events focused on wellness and the diverse cultures and histories of Asia, encouraging staff to participate, engage, and explore.
In addition to Tai Chi classes, staff came together on May 19 for a special celebration featuring henna tattoos, Chinese calligraphy classes, tea tasting, and a game of carrom.
May was also Jewish Heritage Month in Canada, offering an opportunity to discover and celebrate Jewish culture, faith, and history. Throughout the month of May, our Agency’s Jewish Employee Resource Group shared foundational beliefs, concepts, and ideas of Judaism to all staff.
York Region CAS remains committed to fostering a workplace that values cultural celebration, learning, and equity.
