York Region CAS stands with our community in recognizing National Child and Youth Mental Health Day (May 7, 2025), a day to raise awareness about the mental health challenges faced by children and youth and to emphasize the importance of caring, connection, and equitable support systems.
This year’s theme from Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) is Voices Unheard, Stories Told: Centering the Diversity of Ontario’s Infants, Children and Youth. Many children, youth, and families, especially those who are Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQA+, Francophone, Northern, newcomer, and low-income continue to face disproportionate barriers to accessing mental health services. Their stories often go unheard, even as they navigate systemic inequities, long wait times, and services that are not designed with their lived realities.
National Child and Youth Mental Health Day is an opportunity to amplify their stories, highlight the urgent need for culturally safe and community-based mental health services, and call for action that addresses systemic inequities.

Together, we can help every child and youth feel seen, heard, loved and supported.
