Every year on August 12, International Youth Day celebrates the voices, resilience, and aspirations of young people around the world. This year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” recognizes that while youth come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, they share common hopes for education, opportunity, belonging, and a brighter future.
At York Region CAS, we are proud to support youth through initiatives that empower them to succeed.
Youth Advisory Council
Our Agency’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) provides youth with opportunities to develop leadership skills, share their perspectives, and help shape programs and services that impact young people. Through advocacy, collaboration, and community involvement, YAC members make meaningful contributions while strengthening their own skills and confidence.
Stay in School Awards
The Stay in School Awards recognize youth participating in the Ready, Set, Go (RSG) program who have demonstrated resilience, perseverance, and a commitment to their education.
Made possible through donations to the York Region Children’s Fund, the awards help reduce financial barriers for youth pursuing college, university, skilled trades, and apprenticeship programs.
Last year, 21 youth received Stay in School Awards.
One recipient shared:
“Your generosity is more than just a financial gift; it is a show of confidence in my future. This award has lifted a significant worry off my shoulders and will allow me to focus on what truly matters—my graduate education.”
Every young person deserves the opportunity to pursue their aspirations. Together, we can continue supporting youth as they build brighter futures.
