This week, York Region Children’s Aid Society joins child welfare organizations across Ontario in recognizing Foster Family Appreciation Week and celebrating the extraordinary individuals and families who open their hearts and homes to children and youth in need.

Foster families provide more than a safe place to stay. They offer stability, encouragement, and a sense of belonging during times of uncertainty, while helping children and youth maintain meaningful connections to their families, cultures, and communities. Their care and support play an important role in helping children, youth, and families achieve positive outcomes and, whenever possible, reunification.

At York Region CAS, we know that every child and youth is unique. Foster caregivers help create environments where children and youth feel seen, valued, and affirmed in their identities, cultures, and lived experiences.

We are deeply grateful to our foster families for their compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the children and youth in our care. Their dedication makes a lasting difference every day.

As part of Foster Family Appreciation Week, we look forward to celebrating our foster families at our Foster Family Appreciation Meet and Greet on October 22, 2026.

To all of our foster families: thank you for being there to care. We honour and celebrate you this week and throughout the year.
