On July 8, 2026, staff came together for an inspiring Chai and Chat session featuring Princess Abudu, a creative non-fiction writer, founder of Curious Monarch Press, and a former youth in care.
Princess Abudu shared her remarkable journey as an author, entrepreneur, and advocate, speaking candidly about resilience, grief, and the power of pursuing your goals despite challenges. Drawing from her lived experience, she encouraged staff to continue empowering young people to dream big, stay focused, and reach their full potential.
A graduate of York University and Toronto Metropolitan University, Princess Abudu is also the founder of Curious Monarch Press. Her debut novelette, thoughts on grief, launches on August 28, 2026, and explores her personal experience of loss while reflecting on the cultural connections she shared with her brother through gaming, anime, fitness, and more. Her book also includes an essay titled “A Room of One’s Own,” which she read to staff and serves as a thematic homage to Virginia Woolf.
Thank you, Princess Abudu, for sharing your story, wisdom, and inspiration with our team. Your message was a powerful reminder of the strength, determination, and potential that exists in every young person.
