To mark the beginning of Foster Family Appreciation Week, we have sent a heartfelt thank you to our Foster and Kinship Care families for their invaluable contributions and the critical role that they play in the lives of children, youth, and families in our community.
Foster and Kinship caregivers are key members of the team that support children and youth in the child welfare system, including by facilitating pathways to lifelong connections with family and community for the young people in their homes. Children and their foster caregivers come from diverse neighborhoods, cultural backgrounds, and socio-economic groups. The foster children are infants to young adults and can be single children or sibling groups.
During this Foster Parents Appreciation Week, we hope to help all staff better understand fostering and to have a greater appreciation of all the things foster and kin care parents do.
We also hope you can become allies in our quest to recruit new foster parents through Each One Reach One campaign initiative by referring a family or couple that you might know, as we are always accepting applications for new foster families from different backgrounds! Learn more…
Together, each of us can make a difference in the life of a child or youth!
